Gresham Golf Course

Portland Area Golf Course

Gresham Golf Course is a beautiful 18-hole, public golf course in the heart of Gresham, Oregon. GGC features a grass driving range open daily to the public.

In 1963, Sam & Peggy Wolsborn, a local home builder and his wife, had a thought. Let’s put an 18-hole golf course somewhere in east Multnomah County.

He started by purchasing berry farms, one by one, in the mostly rural town of Gresham, about 12 miles east of downtown Portland.

So rural was Gresham at the time, that the local high school considered to name its mascot “The Berry Pickers”.

With the help of Eddy Hogan, the then head PGA professional of Portland’s Riverside Golf Club, Sam designed a course that he thought he would like to play. To him that meant, “Not so tough I can’t have a good time!”

Two years later, in 1965, with a very modest ribbon cutting ceremony, Gresham Golf Course opened as a 9-hole course. The Pro Shop operated out of a trailer. The original nine-holes are still intact and now different parts of the front and back nines.

18 months later, GGC became a regulation 18-hole course. Though the course has gone through many changes, the same basic course lay-out remains today.

We are proud to be a family owned and operated course for all of our 50 years.
